Acquisition
Also known as: asset acquisition, digital asset acquisition
The purchase or control transfer of an asset, business, website, domain, dataset, or other income-producing property.
Definition
In asset class leverage, acquisition means gaining control of an asset whose leverage profile can compound after purchase. The analysis includes purchase price, diligence, transfer risk, integration work, revenue durability, and the buyer's ability to improve distribution or monetization.
Example
Buying an SEO website is an acquisition when the buyer takes over the domain, content library, analytics, monetization accounts, and related operating assets.
Important Context
A low purchase price does not automatically make an acquisition attractive. The asset still has to survive transfer, keep its traffic or revenue, and give the buyer a practical path to improve its leverage profile.
