Website Multiple

Also known as: website multiples, monthly multiple, profit multiple, revenue multiple

A valuation shorthand that prices a website as a multiple of monthly profit, annual profit, revenue, or another recurring financial metric.

Definition

A website multiple is commonly used in digital asset acquisitions to express price relative to earnings. The multiple depends on revenue durability, traffic quality, niche risk, growth history, monetization diversity, content quality, and transferability.

Example

A site earning $4,000 per month in net profit at a 36x monthly multiple would be valued around $144,000 before deal-specific adjustments.

Important Context

The multiple is only a shorthand. Diligence still has to test whether the earnings are real, durable, transferable, and improvable.
